I could not be more excited for Martin McDonagh’s new movie. So much so that I ended the 2 and half month Trailer podcast drought and my ban on women in the Trailer pods in order to talk about it with Donna Lobello. I thought since Augusta could let in women so could The Watching Trailers podcast. After months of editing and procrastination, the donut podcast has arrived. I took myself, my daughter and the lovely Kristie Malevindi across several donut haunts in Brooklyn and the big island looking for my new favorite donut.

Its the first vintage trailer podcast. Yippie! A little personal background on Mask: scarred me and my brother for life. I think I was 8 when my Mom decided to tape this off HBO between two movies I did not find completely uncomfortable to be in the same room with, Commando and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Mask is the story of Rocky Dennis, a kid who had a giant deformed head and spoke like he was constantly trying out for NPR. Add to that Cher playing his Mom and Peter Bogdonovich’s shitty ascot and you have a bonified horror show. (Oh the ascots!)
To take my internet revenge on Mask, we’ve found the trailer from 1985. Which doesn’t even need a podcast to understand how sucky it is. But what fun would that be.
Well Jason and I never stop do we? This week we dissect which city Gotham really is. Decide who’s better Keaton or Bale. Explain musical theater hot. And of course bring up how much Jason hates 500 days of Summer. He really really does. Happy Dark Knight Thursday everyone!
